What's new!
The new chat room is called #Legal_topics (how creative) and Webmaster Inc. has been kind enough to continue to host the chat room for us. The Webmaster Inc. chat system has better bandwidth than the mcg system and that should help. Also, we are sharing the system with a larger community, which can be good or bad depending on what you make of it!
20 Jan 08 The old Court TV chat as you can see is no longer available. If you miss the experience, you can still meet up with the old friends and even the Media Chat Group staff people at some times on the newsroom or the other chat rooms. (Great news! We have a new chat server, see above)
There are some links on the main webpage. If you want to use mIRC, the server is newschats.com port 6667. There's been some interest in "talking back" to Washinton Journal (on cspan.org), and other chats but the future is really up to the Chat Community. With the election year coming up, it promises to be an exciting time for chat, no matter where you decide to meet up in chat. Good luck!

10 Jan 08: The Court TV chat room supported by courttv.com will likely become unavailable at some time in the near future. The Media Chat Information Systems chat system/server, which was previously used for testing/backup remains on line. The Media Chat Group is independent and currently there are no plans to provide hosted/facilitated chat support operations for Court TV or truTV. If and/or when the previously used supported chat system becomes unavailable, members of the Chat Community are welcome to use the test/backup system on an "as is" and at your own pleasure basis.

--On 1 Jan 2008, Court TV becomes tru TV. It's not entirely clear what role, if any, chat may play in the future of tru TV. The old "#courttv" chat room will of course go off line. We do, have other news and political chat rooms available. Hope to see many of you there.
To all those who helped organize or manage the #courttv chat room, and everyone who participated, thank you for all the great years. Such a long time of operation is almost unheard of in the "internet age." What in the future might top such a great run? Who knows, that's up to you and up to us.

Web site problems:
2 July 2005: Having some problems with the Media Chat Communities Photos website. It may have to be rebuilt, but I've saved an archive the the albums, so hopefully when it comes back most of the photos should be there.
The web site almost entirely evaporated for some mysterious reason. The backup server also started complaining. I had to rebuild and restore the web and chat servers. Everything "should" be back except for public messages stored in the "exchange database." For some inexplicable reason known only to god and Microsoft, the exchange database has fallen behind some sort of backup/restore event horizon. I'll have to think about how to restructure that. Sorry for the inconvenience
For some reason, no new information has arrived from NASA since 9 Jun. Maybe we lost the downlink for some mysterious reason. Or maybe the budget was cut and they forgot to tell us. In any case, I found some new news that is even more interesting. We've added some "op/ed" feeds because I'm starting to think the entire newspaper should be just renamed "op/ed news," and maybe they should have a two page insert in the middle for the "objective reporting."
Media Chat Group breaks the quiz barrier with several new quizzes. In addition to the "News Quiz," you can now put your courtroom savvy to the test with the "Law Quiz." Good luck and hope to see you on the Big Board.
Sneak a peek behind the scenes at the whacky adventures of the Media Chat Community. You can even upload your own photographs, if you dare. Start by clicking on "the litter box" then click "add photos" in the upper right. You can even leave questions or comments about any of the works of art on display. Expect Hijinks.
Check out the new Media Chat News and Message service bulletin board! You can leave messages or share your thoughts on a variety of subjects. Or, if you've missed your friend in the chat room, you can leave a message!
The MediaChat message board uses industry standard Network News format (NNTP) for reliable performance and compatibility with any "news reader" such as Outlook Express, or Netscape Messenger. Most modern computers have the news reader already installed. Usually, clicking on the "link" to the message board will open your news reader and connect to the news server. You may want to configure some options to customize how you prefer to read messages. The term "Subscribe" as used in the news reader simply means to "list" or "show" the group of messages, you aren't actually entering into any sort of "subscription." In Outlook Express, press F1 and click on "Viewing and Posting to Newsgroups" for lots of useful information.
To connect to the Media Chat News and Message service, click the link here, or, if you wish to manually configure a news reader, enter mediachat.dyndns.biz as the news server, no username or password needed, using the standard nntp port.
